french antique dairy bowl
This large beauty is everything original. Bowls like this were often called Tians, Jattes or Pancheons, used by farmers in the southern regions of France to allow fresh milk to sit, so that the cream would naturally rise to the top. This dairy bowl #3. is Circa. 1900 - made of terracotta with a mellow, faded ochre glaze, giving it a wonderfully worn patina. Clearly this was a very useful bowl that was put to good use each day. To the side of the spout, it is stamped with a No.3. It’s complete with no chip or cracks, just what one would expect, weathered and worn over time. It’s available to hire (UK only) or buy.
